Even with excellent care, pets may sometimes need surgery for injuries, dental concerns, growths, or other health conditions. When surgery is recommended, our goal is to make the experience as safe, calm, and comfortable as possible for both you and your pet. At 101 Pet Vet, your pet will receive compassionate care from a skilled team that treats them like family.
Common Reasons Pets May Need Surgery:
Spaying and neutering: These routine procedures remove the reproductive organs and help prevent unwanted litters, while also supporting long-term health.
Wound repair: Some wounds need stitches or surgical care to heal properly. Depending on the injury, anesthesia may or may not be needed.
Dental surgery: Dental disease can become painful or serious, and surgery may be needed to treat or remove problem teeth.
Ophthalmic surgery: Eye surgery may be recommended for conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, eyelid problems, bulging eyes, or certain cancers.
Surgical oncology: Surgery may be used to remove certain tumors. Follow-up exams are important so we can monitor healing and watch for any changes.
Anesthesia and Pain Management
Anesthesia helps keep your pet still, comfortable, and pain-free during surgery. Dr. Chris Spence will review the benefits and risks with you before the procedure and answer any questions you may have. After surgery, we’ll send you home with clear aftercare instructions so you know how to support your pet’s recovery. If anything seems unclear or you have concerns once you are home, please call us.
Important Care Considerations
- 101 Pet Vet is an outpatient surgical center. We are not a 24-hour facility and do not hospitalize patients overnight.
- We do not provide ambulatory transport to your home or another care facility. Some pets may need help being carried after major surgery, especially if they are sensitive to anesthesia.
- For emergencies or overnight care, we refer patients to VMSG or Horizon Veterinary Specialists.
- You know your pet best. If you are worried about your pet’s health, we encourage you to seek emergency care right away.
